Pathwork

‘The fulfillment so painfully longed for can be attained only when you, as an adult, proceed to
search within yourself for all that you still look for outside of yourself.  This must begin with self-
responsibility.  If you remain stuck on blaming your parents, making them and life responsible, you
deprive yourself of the vital center of all good within you.  Only when you search to alter your own
attitude and discover that your suffering is induced by your attitude now, can you begin to find
security — the security you once looked for in the sustenance given you by others.  Anxiety will
disappear to the exact degree you search within yourself for the cause of your present suffering.
And this suffering is the denial of the original pain and the consequent negative and destructive
patterns of feeling and thinking.’  Lec 192  ‘Real and false Needs’.

‘Many years ago in a lecture called “The Abyss of Illusion” I said that the path of self-
realization and unification contains many junctures where it is necessary to let the self fall into what
appears to be a bottomless abyss.  Falling into it threatens to annihilate the entity.  I said that up to a
certain point in the individual’s evolution, he or she crouches in front of this abyss, holding on and
not daring to jump.  The individual is very, very miserable in this state, but still believes that the
pseudo-safety of this cramped, fearful position is preferable to annihilation.  Only after finally
summoning sufficient trust to risk the jump can the person find out that he or she actually floats.
Many such junctures are necessary for making the discovery all over again that it is safe to jump…
I will end this lecture by telling you that the fear is not real.  It is truly an illusion, but you must
go through it by feeling it.  Through the gateway of feeling your weakness lies your strength; through
the gateway of feeling your pain lies your pleasure and joy; through the gateway of feeling your fear
lies your security and safety; through the gateway of feeling your loneliness lies your capacity to have
fulfillment, love and companionship; through the gateway of feeling your hate lies your capacity to
love; through the gateway of feeling your hopelessness lies true and justified hope; through the
gateway of accepting the lacks of your childhood lies your fulfillment now.  Lec 190  ‘The importance of experiencing all feelings..’
We all yearn for deeper, more loving relationships, and we all want more physical pleasure, vitality, and abundance. Ultimately, we want a sense of purpose for our lives that only comes with intimate contact with God. The Pathwork is a collection of teachings that helps us see and understand ourselves, enabling us to gradually remove the obstacles that keep us separate from others, separate from the source of our creativity and life energy, from our divine core. The Pathwork is a spiritual path of self-purification and self-transformation on all levels of consciousness. It emphasizes the importance of recognizing, accepting, learning to know and ultimately transforming our Lower Self or shadow side of our nature. Pathwork helps us understand that through honest self-examination, with carefully applied tools and practices, we can overcome and remove the inner obstacles that keep us from living fully from and in our Godself, our true nature. The Pathwork is not only about ourselves. Each recognition, each success in understanding ourselves and others, every time we learn to liberate blocked energy and clear up a misconception, we also help everyone else who is striving for more self-knowledge and fulfillment by adding to a great reservoir of light. Our goal, ultimately, is to return to God and help all other beings do the same.
